How many of us have read through a book in the Bible only to scratch our heads and wonder, “What did I just read?” Or found ourselves stuck circling around a verse, feeling like it has no relevance to our lives?
My grandfather, Roy B. Hilton, understood that this was the case for many of us. Decades of teaching and preaching gave him the insight that regular folks like myself sometimes needed help in better understanding Scripture. That’s why he created A Ministry of Sharing way back in 1973. In those days, his commentaries were typed, printed, and mailed. Over time, word of mouth grew his readership to more than 2,300 individuals and churches. When Roy passed away in 1993, my father kept the presses running until his death in 2010. Since then, these wonderfully crafted teachings have been in hibernation.
In the spring of 2026, I found an almost complete set of Roy’s work in a box in my closet, and I remembered a promise I had made to him. That I would read them and then pass them along.
Slowly, one study at a time, I began to dive in, and it wasn’t long before I was entrenched. That’s when I knew Roy’s study guides needed to be shared. So I set out to do just that, digitally scanning each book and transforming them into Kindle ebooks and paperbacks. I treated them as if I were restoring classic works of art, correcting typos and grammatical mistakes, and sometimes retyping passages where the ink had faded so much that the scanners couldn’t clearly read them.
My cousin Steve Bowen has raised his hand and said he’d love to support the cause. You’ll get to meet him soon in future posts as he and I share stories and updates about bringing Roy’s vision back to life.
All in all, Roy wrote 46 books. We’ll be sure to keep you informed as we roll them out.
Finally, I want to confess that as I get deeper into God’s Word, I don’t know if I understand all of it. But I can hear Roy telling me that that’s okay. Just keep at it. Each day, as I go through another study, my mind and my heart are seeing new truths come to light. Some challenge me more than others.
Roy would say that’s what A Ministry of Sharing is all about. By sharing God’s Word with each other, we are sharing truth, hope, love, peace, and so much more.
As we invite you to experience Roy’s life’s work, we hope it helps you grow in your walk with Christ. And we hope that you, too, will share it forward.
